Leon Uris

Leon Marcus Uris (August 3, 1924 – June 21, 2003) was an American novelist best known for sweeping historical fiction that often drew on military and historical events. His bestselling novels include Battle Cry (1953), Exodus (1958), Trinity (1976), QB VII (1970) and Mila 18 (1961). Many of his works achieved wide popular success and some were adapted for film and television. Uris served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II, which informed the military detail in several of his novels.
