Lian Hearn

Lian Hearn is the pen name of Gillian Rubinstein (born Gillian Margaret Hanson), an English-born Australian writer best known for the Tales of the Otori series — historical-fantasy novels set in a fictional world inspired by feudal Japan. Rubinstein began her career writing award-winning children’s and young adult fiction (notably Space Demons) and adopted the Lian Hearn pseudonym for her adult-oriented Otori books, which have sold millions of copies worldwide and been translated into many languages.
