T. J. Newman
T. J. Newman is an American author and former flight attendant. She grew up in Mesa, Arizona, and studied musical theatre at Illinois Wesleyan University, graduating in 2006. After a brief stint pursuing acting in New York City, she returned to Phoenix and worked in a bookstore before becoming a flight attendant for Virgin America and Alaska Airlines from 2011 to 2021. Her debut novel, "Falling," was published in July 2021 and became a bestseller, with film rights sold to Universal Pictures. Her second novel, "Drowning: The Rescue of Flight 1421," was released in June 2023 and also became a bestseller, with film rights sold to Warner Bros. Her third novel, "Worst Case Scenario," was released in August 2024. Newman has cited Michael Crichton's work as a major influence.
