Sir Ian Rankin

Sir Ian James Rankin (born 28 April 1960) is a Scottish crime writer best known for his Inspector Rebus novels, which helped define the "tartan noir" subgenre. A prolific author since the 1980s, Rankin has written numerous Rebus novels and other crime fiction, and has been recognised with multiple awards and honours for services to literature and charity.
