Thea Kliros
Thea Kliros was a fashion and children's book illustrator born in Queens, New York, on August 16, 1935. She studied art at Bennington College and Yale University. Kliros began her career as a painter and worked on dioramas at the Natural History Museum in Washington, D.C. She later lived in Spain and Switzerland, continuing to paint and gaining experience as a freelance illustrator. Upon returning to the United States, she focused on fashion illustration for publications like Vogue and Women's Wear Daily. In her later career, she transitioned to illustrating children's books, drawing inspiration from early 20th-century illustrators. Her work often featured her grandchildren and her dog. Kliros passed away on December 18, 2013, at the age of 78, from lung cancer.
