Robert James Waller (August 1, 1939 – March 10, 2017) was an American author, photographer, musician, and former university professor best known for the bestselling novel The Bridges of Madison County (1992). He published several novels and non-fiction works and worked as a professor of management and business before becoming a full-time writer and artist.
