Mary Pope Osborne (born May 20, 1949) is an American author best known for creating the Magic Tree House series of children's chapter books. Since publishing the first Magic Tree House book in 1992 she has written dozens of titles and accompanying research guidebooks (often collaborating with her sister Natalie Pope Boyce and her husband Will Osborne). Osborne has served in leadership roles for authors' organizations and has been recognized for her contributions to children’s literacy and reading education.
