Cecily Brooke von Ziegesar (born June 27, 1970) is an American author best known as the creator of the bestselling Gossip Girl series. Raised in New York City and educated at Nightingale-Bamford School and Colby College, von Ziegesar worked at book-packaging firm Alloy Entertainment where she developed the idea for Gossip Girl. Her work spans young adult fiction and contemporary adult fiction, including titles such as the It Girl series, Dark Horses, and Cobble Hill (Atria, 2020). She lives in Brooklyn, New York.
