Phillip Michael Margolin (born 1944) is an American novelist best known for legal thrillers. A former criminal defense attorney who tried numerous high-profile cases, Margolin left active practice in the mid-1990s to write full time. His breakout novel Gone, But Not Forgotten (1993) was translated into multiple languages and adapted as a television miniseries. He has written more than twenty bestselling novels and is active in educational and nonprofit work, including Chess for Success.
