Carlos Castaneda
Carlos Castaneda was a Peruvian-American writer and anthropologist known for his series of books detailing his alleged apprenticeship in shamanism under a Yaqui "Man of Knowledge" named Don Juan Matus. While his early works were bestsellers and influential in the New Age movement, many scholars now consider his accounts to be fabricated. Castaneda's life and background were often obscured by conflicting stories he told about himself.
