Stieg Larsson (born Karl Stig-Erland Larsson) was a Swedish journalist, writer and anti-fascist activist best known for the posthumously published Millennium trilogy (beginning with The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo). He co-founded the Expo Foundation to monitor and counteract right-wing extremism in Sweden and worked for many years as a journalist and editor. Larsson completed three novels in the Millennium series before his sudden death in 2004; the books became international bestsellers and were adapted for film and television.
