Stephen Michael Stirling (born September 30, 1953) is a Canadian–American author best known for science fiction, fantasy, and alternate-history novels, including the Emberverse (Novel of the Change) series, the Draka series, and Island/Nantucket-related works. A former lawyer and amateur historian, he has written extensively about military, technological, and social consequences in speculative settings and lives in the American Southwest.
