Layne Redmond

Layne Redmond (1952–2013) was an American drummer, frame drum expert, author, teacher, historian, and mythologist. She was acclaimed worldwide for her mastery of the frame drum and was the first woman to have a Signature Series of world percussion instruments with Remo, Inc. She is best known for her book 'When the Drummers Were Women', which explores the history of women as primary percussionists in the ancient Mediterranean world.
