Dan Santat is an American author and illustrator known for his prolific work in children's literature and graphic novels. Born in Brooklyn and raised in California, he originally studied microbiology before pursuing his passion for art at the Art Center College of Design. He is the creator of the Disney Channel animated series The Replacements and has illustrated over 100 books. His notable works include the Caldecott Medal-winning 'The Adventures of Beekle: The Unimaginary Friend' and the National Book Award-winning graphic memoir 'A First Time for Everything'.
