Chögyam Trungpa

Chögyam Trungpa (1939–1987) was a Tibetan Buddhist teacher, writer, and founder of Naropa University and Shambhala International. Recognized as the 11th Trungpa tulku, he escaped Tibet in 1959 and later moved to the West, where he taught widely, combining traditional Tibetan Buddhist teachings with contemporary culture. He authored many influential books on meditation and Buddhism and played a central role in introducing Buddhist practice to North America.
