Beatrice Sparks (born Beatrice Ruby Mathews) was an American writer and hoaxer, best known for producing a series of books presented as the 'real diaries' of troubled teenagers. While she often claimed to be merely the editor of these diaries, she was the primary author behind works such as 'Go Ask Alice'. Her books, which addressed issues like drug abuse, teenage pregnancy, and the occult, were marketed as cautionary tales for young adults.
