Robert Ryan is an English author, journalist, and screenwriter born in Liverpool, England, around 1951. He moved to London at eighteen to study natural sciences at university and later lectured in the subject for several years. He transitioned into journalism in the mid-1980s, writing for publications such as The Face, Arena, The Daily Telegraph, US GQ, and The Sunday Times. He is known for his historical mystery novels, including the 'Morning, Noon and Night' series and the 'Dr. Watson' series. He has also written under the pseudonyms Tom Neale and R. J. Bailey.
