Tom Rob Smith is an English author and screenwriter, best known for his internationally bestselling Child 44 trilogy. Born in 1979 to a Swedish mother and an English father, he was raised in South London. He studied English Literature at St John's College, Cambridge, and later creative writing in Italy. Before achieving literary success, he worked as a scriptwriter and story-lined Cambodia's first soap opera. His work spans both novels and acclaimed television series, including 'London Spy' and 'The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story', for which he won an Emmy and a Golden Globe.
