Born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, he holds a BA in English and Journalism from the University of Iowa and an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. His work is noted for its sharp social observation, satire, and exploration of modern life, technology, and relationships.
