Bharati Mukherjee was an Indian-born American novelist and short-story writer, known for her exploration of the immigrant experience, cultural identity, and the challenges faced by Indian immigrants in North America. She was a professor of English at the University of California, Berkeley, and a significant voice in postcolonial and contemporary literature.
