James Herriot

James Herriot was the pen name of James Alfred Wight (1916–1995), a British veterinary surgeon and author. He is best known for his semi-autobiographical books about his life as a rural veterinarian in the Yorkshire Dales, which began with the publication of 'If Only They Could Talk' in 1970. His warm, humorous, and poignant stories about animals and the people who care for them have sold millions of copies worldwide and inspired multiple film and television adaptations.
