Oprah Gail Winfrey is an American media executive, talk show host, actress, producer and philanthropist. She is best known for creating and hosting The Oprah Winfrey Show (1986–2011), one of the highest-rated daytime talk shows in U.S. television history. Winfrey has built a multimedia empire including OWN (Oprah Winfrey Network), O, The Oprah Magazine, and numerous books and media projects; she is also noted for her extensive philanthropic work and influence on popular culture.
