Nancy J. Cavanaugh is an American author of middle-grade children's novels. A former elementary and middle-school teacher and school library media specialist, she lives in Florida with her husband and daughter and spent summers in her former hometown of Chicago. Her work includes This Journal Belongs to Ratchet (her debut), Always, Abigail, Elsie Mae Has Something to Say, and When I Hit the Road (Sourcebooks, 2020). She has been writing for many years and often draws on everyday life and her experiences with children for inspiration.
