Hanna Alkaf
Hanna Alkaf is a Malaysian author of novels and picture books for children and young adults. Her debut YA novel, The Weight of Our Sky, is set during the 1969 Kuala Lumpur race riots and explores mental illness, identity, and survival. She has written Queen of the Tiles, The Girl and the Ghost, Hamra and the Jungle of Memories, and The Hysterical Girls of St. Bernadette’s, and has coedited the YA anthology The Grimoire of Grave Fates. Alkaf studied journalism at Northwestern University and has worked in both fiction and nonfiction. She lives in Kuala Lumpur.
