B. A. Paris (pen name of Bernadette Anne MacDougall) is a Franco‑British author best known for psychological and domestic thrillers. Born in Surrey in 1958 to a French mother and Irish father, she worked in finance in Paris and later ran a language school with her husband before beginning to write after turning 50. Her debut novel Behind Closed Doors became an international bestseller; her other novels include The Breakdown, Bring Me Back, The Dilemma, The Therapist, The Prisoner and The Guest. Her books have sold millions of copies and been translated into dozens of languages.
