Simon Wiesenthal (1908–2005) was an Austrian Jewish survivor of Nazi concentration camps who became a prominent Nazi hunter, author, and human rights advocate. After World War II he devoted his life to documenting Nazi crimes and helping bring Nazi war criminals to justice. He founded the Jewish Documentation Centre in Vienna and authored several books including The Sunflower and Justice, Not Vengeance. Wiesenthal received numerous international honors for his work and remained a public figure until his death in 2005.
