Wilbur Addison Smith (9 January 1933 – 13 November 2021) was a bestselling novelist known for sweeping historical adventure novels and multi-generational sagas set largely in southern Africa. He published dozens of novels (including the Courtney, Ballantyne and Egyptian series) which have sold over 140 million copies worldwide. His work emphasizes hunting, mining, romance and conflict across several centuries of Southern African history.
