Ann M. Martin is an acclaimed American author best known for creating "The Baby-Sitters Club" series, which has sold over 170 million copies worldwide and has remained a beloved staple of children's literature since its debut in 1986. She also writes standalone novels, many of which are set in the 1960s. Martin has a long-standing interest in children with autism, stemming from her time working at a school for children with autism during college summers. She co-founded "The Lisa Libraries" in 1990, a non-profit organization that distributes new books to children and establishes libraries in underserved areas. Martin also founded the Ann M. Martin Foundation, which provides financial support for art, education, and literacy programs, as well as programs for abused and stray animals. She served as a producer for the 2020 Netflix adaptation of "The Baby-Sitters Club."
