Marguerite Henry (born Marguerite Breithaupt) was an American author best known for her children's books about horses and other animals. Over a writing career spanning more than five decades she published nearly 60 books, combining careful research with evocative storytelling and frequent collaboration with illustrator Wesley Dennis. Her best-known titles include Misty of Chincoteague and King of the Wind; she won the 1949 Newbery Medal for King of the Wind and received Newbery Honors for other works.
