Betsy Maestro

Betsy Maestro is an American author of books for young children. A former kindergarten and first-grade teacher, she has written and collaborated on dozens of picture books and early readers—often working with her husband, illustrator Giulio Maestro. Her titles include The Story of the Statue of Liberty, A More Perfect Union: The Story of Our Constitution (an ALA Notable Book), and Liberty or Death. Maestro has lived and worked in Connecticut and has spoken in schools and libraries about her books.
