Valerie Tripp

Valerie Tripp (born 1951) is an American children's author best known for writing many of the historical-character books in the American Girl series, including the Felicity, Josefina, Kit, Molly and Maryellen storylines, and several Samantha books. She has written leveled readers and educational materials for elementary reading programs, and has authored other children's series including Hopscotch Hill School and the Izzy Newton STEM series for National Geographic Kids. Tripp holds a B.A. from Yale University and an M.Ed. from Harvard University and lives in Silver Spring, Maryland.
