Oscar Fingal O'Flahertie Wills Wilde (1854–1900) was an Irish poet, playwright, and novelist known for his sharp wit, flamboyant style, and contributions to aestheticism. His best-known works include the novel The Picture of Dorian Gray and the plays The Importance of Being Earnest and Lady Windermere's Fan. Wilde was a leading literary figure in late 19th-century London, celebrated for his epigrams, social satire, and dramatic works. He was imprisoned in 1895 for 'gross indecency' and spent his final years in exile in France.
