Susan Beth Pfeffer (February 17, 1948 – June 23, 2025) was an American author of more than 70 books for children and young adults. Best known for the post-apocalyptic YA novel Life as We Knew It (2006) and its sequels, her career spanned picture books, middle-grade and young-adult novels, and historical fiction such as the Portraits of Little Women series. She graduated from New York University and lived much of her life in New York State.
