Paul Torday (1 August 1946 – 18 December 2013) was a British novelist and former businessman, best known for his comic debut Salmon Fishing in the Yemen (2007). He began publishing fiction late in life and produced a string of novels exploring political satire, social themes and human foibles. Salmon Fishing in the Yemen won the Bollinger Everyman Wodehouse Prize and was adapted as a feature film in 2011. Torday lived in Northumberland and continued to publish until his death in 2013.
