Frédérick Lavoie
Frédérick Lavoie (born 1983 in Chicoutimi, Quebec) is a Canadian journalist, travel writer and non-fiction author. He has worked as an independent foreign correspondent for outlets including La Presse and Le Devoir, reporting from more than thirty countries. His book Avant l’après: Voyages à Cuba avec George Orwell won the 2018 Governor General's Literary Award for French-language non-fiction; his work has been published in French and in English translation (Orwell in Cuba). He has published other non-fiction and essay collections and divides his time between Montréal and international reporting assignments.
