David McKie

David McKie is a British journalist, columnist and author. He joined The Guardian in 1965, served as deputy editor (1975–1984) and wrote regular columns including 'Elsewhere' and the pseudonymous 'Smallweed'. He has written a number of non-fiction books on British history, politics and social life, including a well-regarded biography of Jabez Balfour and works on British local history and travel.
