Lincoln Jeffrey Peirce (born October 23, 1963) is an American cartoonist, author, and animator best known as the creator of the comic strip and book series Big Nate. He has written and illustrated multiple Big Nate novels and comic-strip collections, and is the author of the Max & the Midknights middle-grade fantasy series. Peirce’s work has been adapted for animation and his books have been New York Times bestsellers. He studied art at Colby College and received an MFA from Brooklyn College. He lives in Maine with his family.
