Ricardo Pinto (born 1961 in Lisbon, Portugal) is a Portuguese novelist and former computer game programmer best known for The Stone Dance of the Chameleon series. He moved to the UK as a child, studied mathematics at the University of Dundee, and worked in game design before publishing his debut novel The Chosen (1999). His fiction is noted for its dense worldbuilding, literary style, and dark, political themes. He later reissued and extensively revised the Stone Dance series in a second edition (released 2018–2020) and has published other works including War in Heaven (with Adrian Smith) and Matryoshka.
