Campbell Armstrong
Campbell Armstrong (born Thomas Campbell Black; 25 February 1944 – 1 March 2013) was a Scottish novelist and writer of thrillers, crime fiction and novelisations. Born in Govan, Glasgow, he studied philosophy at the University of Sussex, taught creative writing in the United States in the 1970s and turned to full‑time fiction writing in the late 1970s. He wrote more than 25 books, including Glasgow crime novels featuring detective Lou Perlman, and penned novelizations such as Raiders of the Lost Ark (under the name Campbell Black). His work won Scottish Arts Council awards and has been translated into multiple languages. He lived for many years in the US before moving to Ireland and died in 2013.
