Robert Louis Stevenson (1850–1894) was a Scottish novelist, poet, essayist and travel writer best known for adventure classics that include Treasure Island and Kidnapped, and the psychological novella Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. His works combine vivid storytelling, strong imagination, and reflections on morality and identity; he travelled extensively and wrote widely about his journeys and life in the South Pacific.
