Rachel Renée Russell is an American author known for the 'Dork Diaries' children's book series and its spin-off 'The Misadventures of Max Crumbly.' The series, written in a diary format with doodles and comic strips, chronicles the middle school experiences of Nikki Maxwell. Russell's work is inspired by her own middle school experiences and those of her daughters, Nikki and Erin. Nikki Russell is the illustrator for the series, and the main character is named after her. Rachel Renée Russell is also an attorney but prefers writing to practicing law.
