Sergei Vasilyevich Lukyanenko (born April 11, 1968) is a Russian author best known for his urban fantasy and science fiction novels, most notably the Night Watch series. Trained as a psychiatrist, he began publishing in the late 1980s and rose to wide popularity in Russia and internationally after Night Watch (1998). Several of his works have been adapted for film and other media.
