Michael Scott Rohan (22 January 1951 – 12 August 2018) was a Scottish author best known for his fantasy and science fiction work, particularly the Winter of the World sequence (beginning with The Anvil of Ice) and the Spiral sequence (beginning with Chase the Morning). He also wrote the science fiction novel Run to the Stars and non-fiction on music and opera. Rohan worked as an editor and writer on classical music and opera topics and was active in SF circles from the 1970s. He ceased writing fiction after an illness was diagnosed in 2000 and died in Edinburgh in 2018.
