David Farland (Dave Wolverton)

John David Wolverton (1957–2022), better known by his pen names Dave Wolverton and David Farland, was an American author best known for his epic fantasy Runelords series and for writing science fiction under his birth name. He won the 1987 Writers of the Future contest, taught creative writing (including at Brigham Young University), ran writing workshops, worked in game and screen development, and authored numerous novels and tie-in works including Star Wars novels. He died in January 2022 after a head injury.
